Balda Cave, located in the Koraput district of Odisha, is a hidden gem that is waiting to be discovered by tourists. The cave is situated in the Eastern Ghats, a mountain range known for its stunning landscapes and varied wildlife, 66 kilometers from Jeypore and Koraput. Balda Cave is a beautiful tourist spot.
You will not only see the cave but can also enjoy the scenic beauty of the entire Eastern ghat range from the top of the Cave. There is a lake near the cave, which gives a soothing feeling to the visitors. The top of the Cave is as big as the size of 5 football grounds. You can see the Jalaput reservoir from the top of the cave.
You will experience several small to medium waterfalls near Balda Cave in the monsoon season. The best time to visit Balda Cave in Koraput is during the winter months between October and February. During this time, the weather is pleasant and comfortable, making it the perfect time to explore the cave. The temperature ranges between 15-25 degrees Celsius, and the humidity is low.
This is the peak season for tourism, and you can expect to see more visitors during this time. The monsoon season between June and September should be avoided, as the cave remains closed during this time as the area receives heavy rainfall and the cave becomes slippery, making it difficult to explore.
Balda is still unknown to most people and there is no facility available at the cave. If you are planning to have a day outing at the cave then make sure to carry food and water with you.
