Bonda Hill Station in Khairput, Malkangiri, Orissa

Bonda Hill is located 80 kilometers from the District Headquarters and is part of the Khairput Block. This is the home of the Bondas, a primitive tribal community. It is encircled by dense hilly forest. The Bondas of this place are still naked, and it is believed that they were cursed by Goddess Sita for laughing at her while she was bathing in Sita Kunda at Bonda Hill. At Mudulipada, the Bondas celebrate a festival called “Patkhanda Vatra” in January, during which they worship a sword. They believe this sword belonged to the Pandavas. Bonda Hill Station is a popular tourist destination in Malkangiri, Odisha.
