Chandipur is a resort town in Odisha’s Balasore District. The town is located on the Bay of Bengal’s coast, about 16 kilometers from the Balasore Railway Station. Its beach is unique in that during the ebb tide, the water recedes up to 5 kilometers. The beach supports biodiversity due to its unique circumstances. Horseshoe crabs can also be found on the beach towards Mirzapur, a nearby fishing market and community at the Budhabalanga River (Balaramgadi) confluence. It’s an ideal spot for a picnic. Here is one of Odisha Tourism’s Panthanivas (guest houses).
Chandipur Beach is unlike any other. During low tides, the beach recedes up to 5 kilometers, allowing visitors to walk on the sea bed. This one-of-a-kind phenomenon aids the beach’s equally one-of-a-kind biodiversity. It is home to endangered species such as horseshoe crabs, starfish, and sea urchins, to name a few. The beach’s water is muddy, making it unsuitable for swimming.
