Papanga Hill Station & Budharaja Mountain is located near the village of Papanga and is part of the district’s Bheden block. Budharaja is worshiped in a temple on the outskirts of the village Papanga and at the foot of the mountain. It has a land area of 50 to 60 acres. The mountain is 600 feet above sea level. It has a lovely forest garden called Bankhol.
There are also many other beautiful places to visit, such as Lord Shriram’s temple, a Yogashram, a Mango Grove, and a triangle-shaped pond. The mountain is inextricably linked to Vir Surendra Sai’s rebellion against the British. Historians date the origin of the deity Budharaja in the mountain to the 17th or 18th century. On the day of Chaitya Purnima, the festival known as Banabihar is observed here, attracting people from all over the district and beyond.
